Web Standards for All...

Excellent article stating that the fight for Web Standards is far from over.

CSS - Hierarchy

Many headaches can be caused by the cascade when using stylesheets.

Today I think I finally committed the priority to memory.

Priority in CSS

Low - Imported Stylesheets (@import)
Medium - Linked Stylesheets (<link>)
Medium High - Style blocks (<style>)
High - Inline Styles (style="" attribute)

Of course, this can be a challenge when combining selectors in various ways while using multiple methods to apply styles.

1 Year of South Beach Diet

One year ago today, I started the South Beach Diet. I read most of the info on South Beach Diet on Prevention.com. Later I purchased the books which gave me a better understanding of the concepts behind the diet.

Anyway, I have lost about 40 pounds over the last year and it was really not that hard. I now weigh 154. I don't see any reason to go back to my old ways of eating (McDonald's fries, No vegetables, White bread).

I spoke too soon

Well, my powerful blog must have influenced Hotmail. It looks like they will soon upgrade to 250MB of storage and make me look like a fool for switching to Yahoo!

Make the switch to Yahoo!

I am a Hotmail user. I have been since 1999 or so. But I am looking into making the switch to Yahoo!Mail. Not that I don't already have a Yahoo screen name. I do, I just am thinking about actually using the mail feature.

Why?

By now you have heard of Gmail, Google's email service offering 1GB of storage. Sounds great and I really would rather use Gmail than Yahoo but I am not special enough to get an Gmail account. So Yahoo is the next best thing now that they are offering 100MB of storage.

Sorry Hotmail, 2MB sucks.

C3PO makes people comfortable

Realism in the design of robots or other human doubles gives people the willies. While Disney animators have always relied on clean lines and simple shapes in their treatment of human characters. 3D graphic artists seem to be pushing too far. This article states that there is a point at which character design comes too close to realism and ruins the illusion.
